Meet Talitha our newest intern from Griffith UniversityCreative Folk, Interns | August 6, 2018
We meet intern Telitha Organ-Fletcher from Griffith University on the Gold Coast.
What attracts you about being an intern at Celebrate Living History?
I love to hear people’s stories, simply put, and when those stories come from people that have lived a completely different kind of life from me I find them incredibly interesting. I think that all different kinds of events make up the human experience and we only get to personally go through a few of them, so hearing and learning from others is the best way to understand and imagine all the different kinds of lives we could have.
Who is an older person that you admire and why?
My mum, who is the hardest working person I’ve ever known or met. She’s had a bit of a tough life. She was the youngest of five children but when her mother passed away when she was 16, she took over the running of the family farm house in rural Queensland in the late 60’s. Despite this, she’s traveled the world many times over despite chronic health issues and I loved to listen to her stories of adventure when growing up.
If you could jump into a time machine what era would you visit and why?
Definitely the 1940’s. I am a vintage loving girl and this era to me embodies some of the most beautiful fashions that the past (or present) has to offer. Additionally, as a bit of a history buff, the 40’s were an amazing, and horrible time but I believe that the sense of national pride and banding together as one to get the job done would have been an incredible thing to experience.
